Dr. Berman completed his undergraduate education at Washington and Jefferson College, and graduated from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1981. He interned and completed his internal medicine residency in Detroit, followed by a gastroenterology fellowship at Mercy Catholic Hospital in Philadelphia. He is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He has been honored as Educator of the Year, as an Outstanding Attending Physician and by Tampa Bay Magazine as a "Doctor's Doctor" (a selection made by other Physicians in the Tampa Bay area). Dr. Berman has been Chief of Medicine and Chief of Staff at PCH.
Dr. Berman is a Fellow of the American Association of Internal Medicine (FAAIM) which a high honor awarded to internal medicine specialists. He has been a distinguished speaker at many national conferences.
