Dr. Harlin graduated from medical school at the University of Texas in 1987. He then completed his general surgery residency with the Air Force in 1992 and remained with the Air Force for two years as a general surgeon. In 1996, Dr. Harlin completed fellowship in vascular surgery at the Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, and concluded his career with the Air Force in 1999.
In 1993, Dr. Harlin became board certified in general surgery through the American Board of Surgery and in 1997 achieved certification in vascular surgery through the American Board of Surgery. He maintains active board certifications in both general and vascular surgery. Dr. Harlin obtained his Florida medical license in 1999 and in 2003 became a Certified Wound Specialist.
He is a member of many professional societies including the International Society of Vascular Surgery, the Southern Association of Vascular Surgery, Society of Vascular Surgery, American Academy of Wound Specialists, Southeastern Surgical Congress, Escambia County Medical Society, Peripheral Vascular Surgical Society, Florida Medical Association, Pensacola Surgical Society, and the Society of Air Force Clinical Surgeons. Dr. Harlin is active in several vascular research studies and has published articles in prominent medical journals such as the Journal of Vascular Surgery, American Journal of Surgery, Military Medicine, and Vascular Surgery
