Dr. Bates is the Medical Director of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery at Orange Park Medical Center. He provides state of the art surgical procedures including minimally invasive valve surgery and daVinci robotic assisted thoracic surgery.
In January 2011, Dr. Bates performed the 1st robotic lobectomy with complete lymph node dissection in northeast Florida and S.E. Georgia and is currently the most experienced and only thriving robotic thoracic surgeon in the region.
In December 2010, Dr. Bates founded the Cardiothoracic Surgery program at Orange Park Medical Center. Upon completion of his training at Massachusetts General Hospital (Harvard Medical School) in 12/07, he joined Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgical Associates in Jacksonville. Dr. Bates is board certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
