Dr. Tenniswood earned his medical degree in 1992 from Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan, followed by a General Surgery Residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City. After completing his formal medical training, Dr. Tenniswood served in the United States Air Force as Major of the Medical Corps at McConnell Air Force Base in Kansas where he earned the Commendation Medal and the Achievement Medal.
After completing his formal medical training, Dr. Tenniswood served in the United States Air Force as Major of the Medical Corps at McConnell Air Force Base in Kansas. During this period, he earned the Commendation Medal and the Achievement Medal, an honor awarded to members of the Armed Forces of the United States who distinguish themselves by heroism, outstanding achievement or meritorious service. He also served as Commander of Surgical Services Flight as well as Chairman of the Cancer Committee.
Following his military service, Dr. Tenniswood was in private practice in Kansas and on the Medical Staff of several area hospitals and surgical centers. During that time, he served in various Medical Staff leadership capacities, including Chairman of Surgery Departments and President of the Medical Staff.
Dr. Tenniswood attained board certification from the American Board of Surgery in 1998 and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has a strong professional interest in minimally invasive surgery and holds membership in other professional societies, including the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the Christian Medical Association.
During his career, he has been the recipient of several awards, including the Christian Leadership Award by the Shepherd School of Ministry in Kansas City, Missouri.
